PageRank Master Review The day after the first search engine appeared on the web, you probably had web masters changing their pages to try to get a better rating. Although many of the old tricks have been rendered obsolete, there's still many techniques to boost your webpage's rating. The problem is, how can you tell if your changes have boosted or lowered your rating. Presently, Google rules the search engine world and has released a free tool to check a URL's page rank as well other functions. You can download the Google Toolbar and try it for yourself on any URL using IE 5.0 or above. The big problem with the Google Toolbar is that you can only check your pages one at a time. If you're only checking one page, this isn't a problem but the heart of analysis of any kind is comparison. PageRank Master makes that comparison easy. Now you can forget about typing in enless URLs and concentrate on improving page rank. Not only will PageRank Master quickly present page rank data in text or graphic form but it also generates reports in RSS, Email or HTML format. The Web Ranking Sheet gives you page rank data in a text form, the Project Graph give a graphical comparison of all of the URLs in a project and the Site Priview shows the web page itself. In some cases, you may notice a popup box appearing with an error message at startup. This is a startup abberation that will be corrected in new builds and has no adverse effect on the program's functionality. Close the box and ignore it. The main commands for PageRank Master are controlled by the buttons shown below. The functions of each of these buttons will be demonstrated below. Configuration The configuration page consists of three parts but you don't have to configure anything to get started. The three sections are: 1) Program - allows you to load and/or run the last project used on startup. 2) Report - Set the font, its size and color for your reports. You can also set the number of entries per page 3) Email - set your email information. See your internet service provider if you don't know some of this information. New Project To check and compare the page rank of a series of URLs, you must first create a project. 1) Click the "New project" icon which will open the "Create New Project" popup window. 2) There are two icons in the upper left corner of the popup window which look like pages. Select the one with a "+" to open a second popup window called "EnterURL" 3) Enter the URL of your choice and close the window. You'll notice that the URL has been added to the main text box on the "Create New Project" window. 4) Repeat the above procedure until all of the URLs you want have been added. The image below shows a list of URLs that will be added to a sample project. 5) Click the "Save project" button and your project will be saved. Now lets check the page ranks. Process The process button will get the page rank information for every URL on your project. You must load a project before you can process it. Please remember that creating a project does NOT automatically load it. Follow these steps: 1) Select "File" from the top menu bar and then "Open Project". Select the project of your choice and click open. 2) A list of the URLs will appear in the site ranking Sheet window along with various information as shown in the image below: A brief description of the information provided is: C Rank - Page Rank L Rank - Last Ranking Status - PageRank Master ranking Sec - seconds needed to retrieve the data. Last Checked - Date when the page rank was last checked. At this point, this information should be blank 3) Click on the "Process" button. PageRank Master will now get the information for all of the URLs in your project. You can see the information in graphic form by clicking the "project graph" tab at the bottom of the window. A reduce view is shown below. Fast Check PageRank Master gives you the option to quickly check one URL without opening a project. 1) Click the Fast Check button to open a popup box called "Enter URL". 2) Enter the URL of your choice and close the box 3) The page rank information for the URL you entered will automatically appear as soon as the window is closed. Be sure the "Sites Ranking Sheet" tab at the bottom of the window is selected. Reports Now that you've compared the page ranks of several URLs, you may want to share that information. PageRank Master makes that easy by allowing you to make reports in HTML, RSS or Email format. Creating a report can be done with just a few steps: 1) Click on the down arrow next to the report icon; a dropdown menu with three choices will appear, 2) The HTML option will create an HTML page similar to the "site ranking sheet" window. 3) The RSS option will create an RSS newsfeed. The information for each URL will be a separate news item. 4) The Email option will send a report via email. Be sure you've configured your email in the configuration window before using this option. Conclusion and Registration This simple program can save you a lot of time. Checking the page rank of your webpages will not longer be a long, dull task with PageRank Master. By creating different projects, you can compare a any combination of any number of URLs. The report feature allows you to quickly pass this information along in several different formats.
