DAO 3.x Info

Some of the programs offered on this website require users to have DAO 3.x installed. In case you're not a database junkie, DAO 3.x is a dll in Microsoft's Jet 4.0 Database Engine Service Pack. If you use Windows 2000 or later, or Microsoft Access , you probably already have it installed.

Follow these steps to find out.

1) Click the Start button on Windows then click Search to open the search window.
2)Select "All files and folders" in the search page and type msjet40.dll in the "All or Part of Filename" textbox.
3) Click "Search" and Windows will begin searching for the file.
4) If you find msjet40.dll in the Windows\System or Windows\System32 folders then DAO 3.x should also be installed. If you want to double check, rerun the search using dao3 in the "All or Part of Filename" textbox and you should find a version of the DAO 3.x dll such as Dao360.dll.
5) If you're interested in finding out what version you have, right click on the msjet40.dll that is found in the Windows\System32 or Windows\System folders and click "properties" in the pop up menu. Click on the "Version" version tab to display the version; presently, the newest version is 4.0.8618.0.
6) If you don't have msjet40.dll, you'll have to download the Jet 4.0 Database Engine Service Pack which can be found on Microsoft's Jet 4.0 page.
